It takes time to heal from a breakup

Breakups are never easy. They can be emotionally and physically draining, leaving you feeling lost, hurt, and confused. While there are plenty of books on “how to move on from a breakup,” healing takes time, and it’s essential to prioritize self-care during this process.

I remember sitting in a therapist’s office, tears streaming down my face, feeling like I should have been over the breakup by now. It had been over a year, and I couldn’t understand why it was taking so long to heal.

But the truth is, healing takes time, and it comes in layers. We can’t rush the process, and we shouldn’t put pressure on ourselves to “get over it” quickly.

Sitting in heartbreak is tough. We miss the person, we grieve them, and it hurts. But we can use this discomfort to our advantage by embracing self-care practices.

practice self-care

Personally, I found solace in meditation, yoga, kickboxing, and journaling. These practices allowed me to process my emotions, stay physically healthy, and build self-confidence.

In fact, starting my own blog was also a part of my self-care journey. It allowed me to share my experiences and connect with others who were going through similar struggles. It was empowering to know that I wasn’t alone in my heartbreak.

So if you’re going through a breakup, remember to prioritize self-care. Take time for yourself, be kind to yourself, and don’t rush the healing process. Embrace the discomfort, and use it as an opportunity to try new things and discover new self-care practices that work for you.
